You may have been hacked or phished without even knowing it! Hacking or phishing is when someone fakes the MySpace
login page to gather your login details. Then they log in as you and post bulletins, comments,
and private messages. Your friends all think the message is from you, so of course they will read it. A lot has
been made about this, but we figured we'd add a little something on MakeMS just in case this is someones first time comming across it!
How You Know If You've Been Hacked or Phished
Well, this one is a toughy. A lot of times you may not know.
There are some things you can do to see if you are a victim of this cyber crime.
Go to your mail inbox. Click on the sent link on the left hand side. Do you see messages there that YOU DID NOT SEND? You have been phished.
Check your friends comments. See comments from you that YOU DID NOT LEAVE? You have been phished.
Check your bulletin posts. Do this by going to the home page, and clicking on 'My Bulletin Posts' on the right hand side of the page. See bulletins that
YOU DID NOT POST? You have been phished.
What To Do If You've Been Hacked or Phished
Change your password immediately. If the login details that the bad guys collected are no longer good, then they can't log in as you and spam others! In fact,
if you even suspect that you've been hacked or phished, you should change your password. Be proactive!
Be Aware of Suspicious Activity!
If you've been on MySpace and then all of a sudden you see a login page.. stop for a moment. Why would MySpace ask you to log in again
when you're already logged in? Look at the address that's in the address bar. If it doesn't start with http://login.myspace.com .. don't log in! In fact
copy the address you see and report it to MySpace!
Sometimes the URL may look very similar to a real MySpace login page. So if you don't trust it, close the browser window. Open up a new browser window. Go to www.myspace.com and
login. This way you are 100% assured that it is a real MySpace login.
Don't be fooled again!
